Small, flat, light: ASUS ZENBook UX500 series

Again ASUS fights against Apple and their MacBooks – ASUS just released their
newest Ultrabook of  the ZEN series. With 15 Inches it’s usually no ultrabook
at all but the other sizes (height, weight) allow this description anyways. With
a Geforce 650M and a 3617 Ivy bridge processor it’s darn fast!

Video posts and the trouble within…

Even these days, multi-device homepages are a bit of a hassle and so I found
out that most of my video posts are not properly viewable on mobile phones
For instance we have the iPhone which seems to drop out on the video tags
trying to open the player.swf instead. also the iPhone can’t deal with FLV.

MegaUpload relaunch in January 2013?

It seems as if “Kim Dotcom” is still active and going to show the copyright
holders the big middle finger after the imprisonment that happened in 2012
against him in new Zealand. As for now, he is free again and planning to bring

Sharp shows 5″ FullHD display

In fact, the Retina display has a pixel density of 326ppi. Sharp however has

About 4 years ago, Bluray discs came into the stores and finally eradicated
it’s archrival HD-DVD. Meantime, there are also Recordables that allow you
to burn 25 or 50(dual-layer) GB of data onto them. Quite a lot of space for
Photos, Movies or the like if you use this medium for backup purposes.

Adobe releases free monospace font!

Not often that you’ll get professional fonts for free, but in this case, Adobe
seems to aim at coders, webdesigners and developers that use monospace
(=equal char widths) fonts to have a clear type area. the problem: many
monotype fonts have chars that look equal to each other (1/i O/0)!

WD flattens 2.5″ HDD once again!

12.5mm, 9mm,7mm – The HDDs of the smaller form factor have been
flattened time by time. the last generation (7mm) is supposed to be
placed into Ultrabooks. These however get flatter and flatter, too, so
another shrink has to be done. WD did so and brings 5mm Hybrid-HDDs.

WhatsApp and security

WhatsApp had to deal again with security problems. While the older
versions didn’t encrypt the message traffic at all, the newer versions used
an AES algorythm to encrypt the messages when sent. Yet the security
was weak as the key is based on the device’s IMEI and thus can be hacked.

in America, many people were disappointed that they bought a brandnew
