WordPress has just released a new version of it’s
CMS and we have installed it already. So all is fixed
what has been known of open bugs thanks to the
newest release of WordPress.
WordPress 5.3 has been released and we tested
thoroughfully to ensure a pleasant stay on our
site while you read news and history here. With
the update being tested, last 4 days posts are now on.
If you wondered why our blog URL has redirected you
to dubious homepages and URLs, we can assure you
that it has hit us out of nowhere. Suddenly we had
messages and Mails from worried users.
As you might have noticed, this post intended for Feb. 21th,
was not released, so it has been posted today on Feb. 22th.
We updated to WordPress 5.1 and had to iron out some kinks
so that nothing will interfere with your user experience here.
Sorry for the lack of posts since friday. With the update of
some plugins the creation and publishing of posts have
become impossible as we were faced with a lot of PHP errors
in the past 3 days. But after some bug bounty, we’re back!
This can be a real hassle. New version of WordPress gets
rolled out and again our cronjobs to release scheduled posts
are simply gone! We wonder what ditches our cronjobs and
thus hinders WP to publish posts that are scheduled.
WordPress is releasing a new form of editor to create posts.
Called Gutenberg, the concept of WYSIWYG is brought to a
new Level. Instead of editing your text and insert media the
classic way by using office-like toolbars, you use blocks now.
As you might have noticed, there are more blog entries
coming up in short period of time. At first I had to etch
out some kinks with the underlaying blog system. But
now most of the kinks are gone. Ther will be some…
WordPress amazes me more and more the newer the
releases become. While security reasons are important
to perform updates, the added new features can become
a real nuisance.
The update into WordPress 3.5.1 ran without problems so far, however
some bugs were annoying me. One of them was the missing ability to
drag widgets from the widget table to my sidebar. First I suspected the
theme to be the culprit, but no! On other themes it didn’t work either!
And the crowd is cheering as the new WordPress version comes online
without great hiccups. Some plugin here, some addon there that didn’t
run as intended, but soon the average posting business will set up again,
still takes some time to adapt to the new system… *sic*
As it wouldn’t have been enough with all the bad news about webservices,
here’s another one for the saturday. It seems as if there’s a bib botnet sear-
ching for security holes in WordPress installations and using them as
zombie servers. The first thing is the brute force attack on the admin pass.
Even these days, multi-device homepages are a bit of a hassle and so I found
out that most of my video posts are not properly viewable on mobile phones
For instance we have the iPhone which seems to drop out on the video tags
trying to open the player.swf instead. also the iPhone can’t deal with FLV.
It seems that my daily basis of posting content seems to bring WordPress to it’s
limit (or at least my host’s server!). However my posts since Saturday have not
been posted although they haven’t been scheduled but regularly posted. I think
there’s some problem with the database. I’ll have to let a ReOrg of same happen.
After having completed all steps to use a newer (and probably more functional)
Wordpress to Twitter sending plugin, it should be that my Tweets now should
show all my posts, I post from now on. Hopefully this will work in any manner
and help you using my blog from Twitter also. Sorry for any inconvenience!
It seems as if also my blog cannot be spared form plugin issues. In this case it was the newest
release of FancyBox for WordPress which is, in my opinion, a cool plugin to pep up the blog
especially when using lots of images in a post or page. So what did I do to get the newest
version to work properly. The author posted a tweet asking everyone to default the settings,
Dang! I hate it when I can’t sleep! Yesterday I had to face a non-working internet, now it
seems to be back again. So while not being able to sleep due to some sneezing and a bit
sickness, I decided to fiddle around with my blog and try to activate my twitter broad-
cast. Let’s see if this post will also be twittered to my twitter account and thus visible…
…or how you can style your blog and make a specific view available to your people.
One of the issues of HTML or generally the internet is, that HTML displays the fonts
you have installed on your computer. So if you use for example Segoe UI (delivered
with Windows Vista/Seven, a user with XP or other OS might probably not see your font.
When the big Web2.0 sympathy began and all these social networks offered ppl to track
their life online, also known as “blogging”, I did not instantly adapt to this technique.
But in today’s time it can be very interesting to look back, what you have done in the past.
With the help of some software (in this case WordPress), blogging never became easier.
