It was a long time since you last have read from our team!
We’re sorry for that if you expected regular updates from
us as we used to post daily for your reading needs about
tech stuff and other news that might be of interest.
It seems as if Microsoft still has severe problems with
Quality Assurance when it comes to releases of updates.
The KB4532693 update released on February 11th, 2020,
seems to take data protection a tad too serious.
It seems that some services (especially update delivery)
don’t run flawless today. If you tried to update your iOS
or Apple tvOS to a newer version you might have found
yourself left with an error message that the update failed.
Windows 7 support officially ended yesterday and
with it a truly good time of one operating system as
reliable as good ol’ Windows XP. Since today only
customers with ESU subscription will receive updates.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience. A lot of posts haven’t
been automatically posted during our absence. Lots of
Missed schedules occurred leaving the posts in Scheduled
state. We need to investigate more into this.
The end of Windows 7 is near. On January 14, 2020
the official support for Windows 7 will end and end
users will no longer receive security updates for the
OS. MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) is not affected.
Sorry for any inconvenience the last days. The
bug devil has striked us again and the post
scheduling system refused to work properly.
This had the effect of no post releases recently.
WordPress has just released a new version of it’s
CMS and we have installed it already. So all is fixed
what has been known of open bugs thanks to the
newest release of WordPress.
WordPress 5.3 has been released and we tested
thoroughfully to ensure a pleasant stay on our
site while you read news and history here. With
the update being tested, last 4 days posts are now on.
Microsoft has release a new update and it causes again
trouble to users, especially those who use Access. The
dinosaur of database tools, still bundled with Office, has
ceased functioning properly after the update.
We know you have all been anxiously waiting to
hear why the blog was offline for a certain time now.
The trouble started with too much file usage and
ended with the blog partly beind rendered unusable!
When NVidia teased a possible new graphics chip,
speculations were high, that it could be a consumer
Titan RTX. Now it seems as if details came out. The
Super RTX is most likely a revamped RTX 20xx series.
It seems as if NVidia still has some security flaws within its
Geforce Experience Driver software suite. So NVidia took
the pill and eradicated the known ones to date with updated
driver packages. Versions 425.51 and 430.64 are out now.
NVidia has released a new type of Graphics drivers for
their graphics cards. All these with Turing chips will now
gain speed from the Creator-ready driver packages. So
an RTX 2080 might gain up to 12% speed in Blender.
As you might have noticed, this post intended for Feb. 21th,
was not released, so it has been posted today on Feb. 22th.
We updated to WordPress 5.1 and had to iron out some kinks
so that nothing will interfere with your user experience here.
Sorry for the lack of posts since friday. With the update of
some plugins the creation and publishing of posts have
become impossible as we were faced with a lot of PHP errors
in the past 3 days. But after some bug bounty, we’re back!
It hasn’t been a good start into 2019 for Microsoft Azure.
Reason for the worldwide outages of Microsofts Cloud
service were long speculated. Now Microsoft has stated
why there were so many interruptions of their services.
Not that working on our blog is a hassle but
every update of PHP seems to cause error on
our blog here and there. So we decided to make
a massive jump to PHP7.3 from PHP5.6.41…
After two pulls Microsoft has finally released Build 1809
for download for everyone. However this update isn’t
shown automatically and you have to manually trigger
the installation via Windows Update!
Logitech’s Options Software is the key component to
customize the behavior of your input devices from them.
However an exploit has been discovered by the Google
Project Zero team. All users should update immediately!
This can be a real hassle. New version of WordPress gets
rolled out and again our cronjobs to release scheduled posts
are simply gone! We wonder what ditches our cronjobs and
thus hinders WP to publish posts that are scheduled.
Microsoft finally seems to roll out Fall Creators update
regularly after fixing some problems with another pre-patch
Some problems were based upon a faulty graphics driver
from Intel for their HD Graphics.
WordPress is releasing a new form of editor to create posts.
Called Gutenberg, the concept of WYSIWYG is brought to a
new Level. Instead of editing your text and insert media the
classic way by using office-like toolbars, you use blocks now.
Well it was expectable that once again a big update
wouldn’t run without flaws. The Windows 10 Update
With Build 1809 has been pulled after several data
losses have been reported, although they are known.
Windows 7 is still omnipresent in most offices around
the world. The reason is that all these offices refuse
to replace a perfectly good-running OS with Windows 10
as it also means to change the common software library.
The migration of all video files has finally been finished.
So from now on you will only find MP4 videos on this blog
The reason for the change was the fact that Adobe has
announced to drop support for Adobe Flash in 2020.
I have done the update on the microsite for Rendezvous Bern
already to match with the 2017 lightshow. The videos are in
conversion already and should be online in the upcoming days.
Please have patience as video conversion takes some time…
It was time to upgrade my cell phone as the iPhone 4 was on it’s way to
complete the 4th year of service. Don’t get me wrong – the iPhone 4 is
still an outstanding device. But you notice that iOS7 is giving it serious
headache. Apps start sluggish and iOS7 drags power as hell.
Nothing is more annoying than an update to a newer version of a software
part of your smartphone or tablet. I got me a Google Nexus 10 which
initially runs on Android 4.2.3. After setting up everything including the
Google Play Store, I got notified about Jelly Bean (Android 4.3).
For all those who wonder, why they see only a blank page on
Captain Campus’ site. The Captain is redesigning his blog. So stay tuned
when the new blog comes online again. It’ll take some days but I guess it’s
worth the wait!
The update into WordPress 3.5.1 ran without problems so far, however
some bugs were annoying me. One of them was the missing ability to
drag widgets from the widget table to my sidebar. First I suspected the
theme to be the culprit, but no! On other themes it didn’t work either!
