AMD Zen4 going 5nm?
According to the FAD 2020 at AMD on march 6th,
it seems as if AMD has big strategies for the future.
One of them being the next step in CPU production
using 5nm technology and chiplet stacking.

It seems as if Intel’s domain is crumbling as well.
Cloudflare is replacing their servers with AMD-based
systems that have EPYC 7642 processors inside. These
are 48-core server processors clocked at 2.3GHz base.
It seems as if Intel has finally noticed that keeping
the prices for their processors artificially high for
more profit is cotraproductive especially with AMD
being in pole position even with server CPUs!
No good times for Intel at the moment. AMD still going
to take the lead in desktop processors while the 3990X
is going to invade Intel’s server and workstation market.
And now there’s a production shortage just ahead.
As AMD has already announced the Ryzen
Threadripper 3990X, a 64core beast that has
a lot of power inside and will definitely change
the CPU market, Intel has a counterattack.
USB4 is on the road and has just been presented at
the CES. While USB3.1 Gen2 is limited to 10Gbps,
USB4 starts at 20Gbps and will also have 40Gbps.
Thunderbolt 4 will be USB4 but with all features.
2019 was already challenging for Intel when AMD
announced the 3rd Gen Threadripper series. Intel
hoped that this would have been the only attack
from AMD. But AMD shifts the next gear…
Intel seems to fear the next-gen Ryzen series so
that they bring a new CPU lineup with higher
clock speeds. Also the TDP has been raised for some
types in order to achieve new top clock speeds.
Well… when the sum is 60.000 Euros
(or 52.000 US$ in the USA), one would
think of an either exclusive PC with an
even more exclusive case.
The ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme mainboard is a real
masterpiece when it comes to high-performance
combined in a single board. In the past ASUS was
already producing high-class mainboards.
The Ryzen Threadripper 3970X is the 32-core
Threadripper from AMD and already a beast when
it comes to multicore computing. Dotriaconta-core
CPUs aren’t often seen for personal systems.
The fight between AMD and Intel is still ongoing
and it seems as if Intel can’t reach AMD with it’s
newest Ryzen processors. This time it’s the 3950X
against Intels flagship, the i9 10980XE Cascade lake.
AMD has shifted to the next gear. The Threadripper
goes Gen.3 and seems more powerful than ever before!
Is the new Threadripper the new Core i9 Extreme killer?
What will Intel do now and may prices even drop now?
AMD Ryzen strikes again! The 3950X with it’s 749US$ price tag
has no problem beating the Core i9 9980X with it’s 2000US$ price
tag. Although the 9980X has 2 cores more, it seems as if the AMD
processor is more efficient when it comes to performance.
Is nVidia afraid of Navi? Or is it the secret weapon to
keep the speed crown when it comes to 3D graphics.
The war between AMD and nVidia is still ongoing. A
recently released YT trailer is promising…
AMD and it’s Ryzen 3000 processors are highly
anticipated. The main reason is Intel’s high price
policy. The first benchmarks of the Ryzen 3000
processor family have leaked and they look good!
It took a while for Intel to make 10nm processors ready for
shipment. Now it looks like as if the production of 10nm
chips is running stable. Intel says that it will start shipping
Ice Lake mobile processors in June now.
It seems as if the battle between Intel and AMD takes a new step.
Especially when it comes to features, AMD does everything right.
The EPYC however is a server processor or at least a workstation
processor aiming at those users which demand CPU power.
Perhaps a really bad day for the NVidia CEO. Softbank,
an investor group bank from Japan has announced to
sell their whole 3.63 billion US$ share package. There was
no given reason for Softbank to sell their whole invest.
When we wrote about AMD releasing it’s EPYC Rome Multicore
processor for High-End servers, it is also known that AMD will fab
them at 7nm. What about Intel? There are rumors that a new 10C
processor for mobiles will hit the stores (Comet Lake).
HPC (High Performance Computing) is a highly demanded
thing today. When it comes to pure computing power for
vast numbercrunching, then classic CPUs cannot achieve
the speed modern GPUs can reach today.
For quite some time the i9-7960XE with a
whopping price tag of 1500 US$ was the king for
High-End gaming rigs. AMD has the Ryzen family
as counterpart. So what’s the new CPU about?
When speaking of GPU Power for notebooks
we just think of mobile GPUs inside them.
However with Thunderbolt 3, there are way more
options for extra GPU power. Sonnet has a concept.
If you ever thought about buying an AMD Ryzen
Threadripper 2990WX, then you can do so now at
a canadian online shop. The price is roghtly about
2400 CAD which comes to about 1850 US$
14 years have passed and World of Warcraft still can make
us spend several hours hunting monsters and clearing
dungeons. With the newest Addon beingg released soon,
also the newest Patch has already been rolled out.
Just few days after AMD has announced the release of
the new Threadripper beast, Intel seems to answer that
by unveiling first specs of the new upcoming i9 flagship.
With 8 cores/16 threads it is said to be as fast as the…
AMD and Intel are on the racetrack again. Who will
offer the fastest CPU for the fairest price out there?
It seems as if AMD is tackling Intel once more by
releasing a new beast to the public in near future…
AMD fights back… and seems to be successful. While NVidia is currently
promoting it’s TITAN Z series GPU (2x Titan Black), AMD goes ahead with
a dual 295X GPU card. The tremendous heat dissipation of 500 watts is
managed by a pre-mounted watercooling solution from Asetek.
I am very patient when it comes to erroneous products. I usually
seel the way of least resistance to get to the goal. But when there’s
something I don’t like much, then it is getting joked on by
companies. Gigabyte is one such who lost my reputation!
…or when a 7970 Radeon HD burns up for unknown reason! Today I got
my second 7970 back from warranty repair. With Crossfire in mind, I
returned home to put in the puppy into my rig. Ran some benchmarks
here and some quick SimCity gaming there when it suddenly happened…
AMD has shown a detailed block diagram of it’s newest GPU family. So does
the “Volcanic Islands” family with “Hawaii” as the flagship GPU comes with
4096 Stream units on 16 computing units. With 256 texture units, 64 ROPs,
assisted from 4GB RAM with 512bit interface, the speed my raise significantly.
While NVidia has thrown in their Geforce Titan, which settles a new record
in graphics performance for a single card, AMD now seems to try catching
up and according to a report on Fudzilla, the new “Malta” core, formerly
known as “New Zealand”. shall bring AMD back to the top.
