Apple considers Qualcomm exit
Apple and Qualcomm seem to have trouble in their
partnership especially after Qualcom has sued Apple
for patent infringements. As of now it seems as if
Apple will stop using Qualcomm’s network chips.

If you ever thought about buying an AMD Ryzen
Threadripper 2990WX, then you can do so now at
a canadian online shop. The price is roghtly about
2400 CAD which comes to about 1850 US$
If you have a smartphone from Huawei, you might
have noticed that for some reason VLC Player is
not available for you in Google Play Store. Why?
VLC has received negative ratings from Huawei users.
Hardly has the problem with SPECTRE been digested, there’s
a new nightmare ahead for users of Intel, AMD and ARM CPUs.
As the universities in Saarland, Germany and California have
detected, there are two main variants breaching the security…
Intel’s 8088 processors have been made in 1979 and were
the Celerons of th 80’s. With CGA graphics cards, PC prices
fell to a more human region and you could get one for
about 1500 US$ by then. Of course they had some flaws…
SSDs are more and more a challenge for high-capacity
HDDs as prices drop and high-density memory dies
are being produced. Western Digital and Toshiba have
produced a QLC chip with 96 layers. What dies that mean?
14 years have passed and World of Warcraft still can make
us spend several hours hunting monsters and clearing
dungeons. With the newest Addon beingg released soon,
also the newest Patch has already been rolled out.
HDMI – A common interface that rules home cinema
equipment for about 15 years now. While VGA with it’s
analogue signal was rather unreliable and DVI couldn’t
get past certain resolutions, HDMI made it’s way.

The migration of all video files has finally been finished.
So from now on you will only find MP4 videos on this blog
The reason for the change was the fact that Adobe has
announced to drop support for Adobe Flash in 2020.
Ever wondered, what it would sound like if you play Super Mario Bros.
themes and sounds on a piano? An artist tried the exact thing and it
sounds somewhat awesome. Okay, when it comes to multitrack sound
then the player fails (you simply can’t merge defferent sounds!)
Many people still want Flash Video on their homepages, however the
usability has experienced a severe drawback in the last years whereas
security issues with the Flash player plugin for several browsers have
been the main reason to move on to a new format.
While the current price plan is 13.99 US$ / 19.90 CHF
for the premium package, Netflix is already testing a
new price plan that will have 4 different stages.
The basic plan will be SD-only quality.
…or in german joked “Pausenaugust-Schach”. Roughly translated to: How to
play chess and build up constellations on the chessboard while knowing the
AI already being f***ed up! In this case, my goal was to embrace the king with
queens and checkmate the AI (8 queens at least needed…) and it IS difficult!
Just few days after AMD has announced the release of
the new Threadripper beast, Intel seems to answer that
by unveiling first specs of the new upcoming i9 flagship.
With 8 cores/16 threads it is said to be as fast as the…
If you thought, SD memory cards have already
reached their technical maximum specification,
think again. Today the SD Association has
announced the next level SD card generation!
WordPress amazes me more and more the newer the
releases become. While security reasons are important
to perform updates, the added new features can become
a real nuisance.
AMD and Intel are on the racetrack again. Who will
offer the fastest CPU for the fairest price out there?
It seems as if AMD is tackling Intel once more by
releasing a new beast to the public in near future…
I have done the update on the microsite for Rendezvous Bern
already to match with the 2017 lightshow. The videos are in
conversion already and should be online in the upcoming days.
Please have patience as video conversion takes some time…
So the new Event is now officially scheduled for
September 12th, 2017. What’s clear is that we will
see a new iphone and a new apple Watch (version).
There’s also a new version of MacOS and iOS to be presented…
It’s time, to bring the embedded video files up to code again.
As FLV seems not to be well-embeddable these days, I decided
to re-encode all previously embedded files to MP4 and have them
played back with a more modern MP4 video player based upon HTML5.
It took quite a while but now you have access to all Lightshows at Bundesplatz
Bern. The older videos have been remastered to ensure the quality is okay even
at Full HD. The new microsite will get a new addition as there’s a new lightshow
available. The next lightshow is already scheduled for October/November 2016.
Well… As you probably know, I am ahold of the newer gadgets of Apple and
so it’s only guessable that the new iPad Pro is now at my hands, too. While
other online mags get their gadgets free for testing purposes, mine are 100%
self-bought, so you can expect an untainted objective review here!
As you already know, I have a new companion around my wrist.
Now that this Apple Watch is with me for a month now, here’s a
report how this little gadget is performing in the everyday usage.
One thing is for sure: It will sport a whole day with ease!
Microsoft has just unveiled their new line of Surface tablets.
But despite of being a tablet, Microsoft sees their Surface Pro 4
as a new laptop. With the power of the new Intel Skylake CPUs
the compute power shall even outwit the 2015 MacBook Pro.
As always, if there’s a new gadget to be checked, I am at the
race line to check up these. However it took quite some time
as I was not yet willing to purchase one yet. A sweepstake from
ewb Bern however changed things quickly.
Ever been annoyed of a very slow internet? Yeah, me too!
Okay, a 250 Mbit/s line for downstream isn’t slow at all but…
if there wasn’t the notorious break on the upstream. And that’s where ewb enters the game with Fiber Internet.
As you might have noticed, I haven’t been posting for quite
a while now. Reason for this is that work and freetime in
summer consume a lot of time which means that my computer
is off most of the time.
As you all know, Western Digital is the storage manufacturer
of my choice when it comes to reliability and innovation. No
other hard drive manufacturer has given me the safe feeling
about my data in the past.
Long time I doubted that I’ll ever use a Mac beside my Windows
environment but sometimes something new has to come, espe-
cially when new knowledge has to be built. So since I already
have made my experiences with Linux (and it’s kinks), well…
It’s not very often that Apple makes big announcements. However today
Apple might again dazzle the people with new gadgets and news about
iOS, OS X and their homemade Apps. Especially the focus on the Apple
Watch is enormous as it has been announced with the iPhone 6 already.
As if things wouldn’t be grim enough when it comes to privacy
and security, this new case of fatal security breach is going to
mean big trouble not only for Lenovo and their security tool.
The reason is the infestation of the HTTPS-mechanism in common.
As if things aren’t complicated already with Windfows machines and Mac
computers seemd to be the save haven for all those users who don’t want
to waste time on thinking about virus scanners and the like, there’s now a
very disturbing news circulating around.
