What does it look like if a blizzard is heading towards
New York? A spectacular time lapse recording from
the One World Observatory (the visitor deck atop the
One World Trade Center) shows the white snow squall.

We all know it from our childhood: Christmas was
often the time where we looked forward to fool
around in the snow. But with ongoing time the
temperatures were no longer allowing snow.

This little bear tries to get to his mommy bear but the
slope seems too steep and to snowy for it’s little paws
to finde adequate hold. What looks dramatic, however
has a happy ending. And we all love happy endings!

Ever wondered about what the lowest temperature on
Earth can be? It seems as if AGU (Advancing Earth and
Space Science) has found the answer to that question!
While we know that 1984 the lowest temperature was…

The weather has somehow strange flows. While in 2012
the May-weather has spiked into 30-degrees regions,
in 2013 the tmperatores have mostly stayed below 15
degrees celsius which is far below the average medium.

As if the gray weather wouldn’t be annoying enough, the weather
forecast for the upcoming days isn’t as thrilling as expected. Snow
down to the flatlands isn’t what one is expecting towards June!
So hopefully the weather will change soon again!

C’mon weather, what’s wrong with you? First you give us sun, 24 degrees
and blue sky and today it’s rainy, above 600 metres snow is falling, in 1000
metres we have 30 to 80cm snow. That’s just crazy! While on Thursday the
temperature was at 24 degrees, it fell to 6 degrees on friday.

The winter is sort of strange. The temperatures are barely below zero degrees
celsius and thus it is raining black ice. What males it so dangerous, is the fact
that you don’t expect extreme weather conditions. But what looks like rain,
quickly turns into a thick shell of ice. The result: Extremely slippery floors.

Did the weather in the past weeks not look like wintertime (don’t tell me that
you consider 15 degrees celsius winterlike!) it is finally snowing again down
to 500 metres above sea level (the height level Bern is). But for how long will
the snow last and how long is the timespan until the next thaw time?

So X-mas is around and the weather is freaking out. The actual temperatures
don’t allow any imagination of a white christmas. While there were 30 centi-
metres of snow laying just two weeks ago, all the snow has now gone and the
green blanket shows up again. Not quite that what I consider a white x-mas.

The winter is finally arriving in Europe, too. While signs two days ago pointed
to a green christmas time, it seems now as if the nature’s white blanket is most
likely to stay. As one of those people who like the four seasons, I am pleased
to see that weather’s like what it should be in December.

So the game develops an interesting taste when you move along with friends
decimating the numerous foes that follow you and stop you from reaching
Diablo. But it’s not as easy as usual. The foes get stronger with each party
member that joins your game. So no more standalone-bashing.

Well, so there we are. Holidays, and no sun in sight. Typically for when you’re
off work. It cooled down 12 degrees in Bern within the last 12 hours. And
when I woke up I had to notice that snow was falling. At first I thought
“There must be something wrong” – But when I went outside, I felt the cold air.

This weekend I am going to Munich again and also see a good friend of mine who celebrates
his 30th birthday. Odd to see some frosting in a train car that is heated up to felt 25°C. Due
to the lack of a stable cell network and the repeated non-working status of the local cell
networks I’ll upload the pictures later on. Funny to see the snow blowing into the coach.

It seems that the winter finally wants to show teeth to us. Has the January been too warm
(approx. 4 degrees over the average meridian), so are temperatures rarely breaking the
-10 degrees barrier in the upcoming days. Metereologists say it isn’t too uncommon for
February to be that cold, however it is uncommon after such a warm January.

While in Goms, Switzerland the snow already stacks up to 2.5 metres, one
would think, it’s unbelievable. In Japan, however, the mountains and the ocean
weather streams allow much higher snow records. up to 15(!) metres the snow
may pile up there and the streets are still passable. You don’t believe it?

So it is winter… finally! Every year the people are hoping for snow for christmas here in Bern.
This year it’s a bit late as the last two days were the only days where we got 10cm of snow!
Although show is a synonym for delayed traffic, cars, busses, trams, no matter what, people
should usually know how to prepare for it and try to reduce delay times as good as possible.

Well… it’s december now but when you look outside, the green meadows and
rather warm temperatures don’t make you feel the winter coming at all. Now
while Switzerland usually tends to have the first snow in November-beginning
this year the snow has some hold-up. Maybe a hint from global warming?

Well, the weather is kinda odd this year. Horror news about increasing climatic temps,
more greenhouse gas effect and the ongoing pollution of the earth are probably the
cause for this year’s winter to start later. Or finally never… who knows. At least the
temperatures are rather mild for November. So hopefully winter will still come.

Impossible, you say? Well, seems not. In Switzerland at higher exposed locations, the
temperatures have dropped below zero. Snow fell down under 1000 metres and in some
locations, the fresh snow amount was 70 cm and up. A cold wave from the north brought
polar air to the south over Europe and temperatures have dropped by 15 to 25 °C.

Well… looks like the summer is slowly passing as today it was rather cold. The weather
forecasts brought up that in the eastern parts of switzerland, snowfall border has
lowered to a mere 1000 metres above sea level. This meant chaos at Gotthard- and

Just 2 days ago I juiced out at 34 °C barely knowing how to cool down except to take a cold
shower or drink cold water and today the news spread that temperatures may fall by 20 °C
that also leads to snowfalls in the more exponented areas such as mountain passes or higher
situated villages such as Davos for example.
