Apple Watch ECG Go-live in Europe!
The ECG feature of the Apple Watch Series 4 has been
locked down to the USA since it’s release. With the new
release of WatchOS 5.2 this has changed: The ECG feature
has been made available outside USA now.
It seems that Apple has managed to get certifications for medical devices in several countries within just 4 months.
The following list shows, where the ECG feature is now available:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Guam
- Hong Kong
- Hungary
- Ireland
- Italy
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands
- Portugal
- Puerto Rico
- Romania
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom
- United States
- US Virgin Islands
But not only Europe benefits from WatchOS 5.2: Also Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and Guam can now make use of the ECG feature.
The release of this high-anticipated feature and the first success stories in the USA make WatchOS 5.2 a huge step forward in Apple Watch history.
Although it seems as if ECG feature becomes wide available now, it might be not as easy as in europe to get certification elsewhere on the world.
Let’s see how this will develop in the future.
