It seems as if the new southern island GPUs are right on track when you read first reviews
about them. My favourite GPU test site Guru3D has checked on these and even managed
to do a Crossfîre scaling test with the new 7970 GPU. The results are promising and it
seems that the power consumption has been held in place or even dropped a little.

From what you can read in their article, it seems that even the scaling on CF setup comes in right. It doesn’t wonder much that AMD tries to bring out their new GPUs as fast as possible as NVidia has already annouced their all-new Kepler GPUs for February this year. First tests may show what NVidias new GPU may be able to process when compared top a 7970.

Guru3D states that the new 7970 does a good job. However the driver programmer team still has to be stocked up so that they can bring out driver updates more constantly and well-optimized for new games.

2012 may become interesting when looking at the -gpus both major labels are firing at us!
