With the release of Windows 8, the Sidebar and it’s gadgets have been
disabled as they see a huge security problem in them. Sure, they can grab
information about you, they can allow malicious code to infect your system
but they have good uses, too. Especially, when it comes to System-info!
Windows 8.1 is out. With it, the start button came back (although the function is
still doubtful as a single left click simply shows the tiles surface again. Sure the
update brought back some functions back to the user. Yet there are essentials
missing, Windows 7 users (like me) still want to have.
If you’re searching for a good present for your father, maybe this one may
come in handy. Two american guys have invented it to circumvent the
forbidden transportation of alcohol in cars. Shaped like an iPhone, they
can now enjoy their beverage without getting in trouble with the police.
Just as the first quadcore devices hit stores for everyone, Samsung’s plans
leaked that the new Samsung Galaxy S4 could be one of the first mobile
devices equipped with an 8-core CPU. Natively we speak of two 4-core CPUs
as octocore SoCs are not yet available or designed to a working state.
Okay, you all know cell phones. Put in a SIM card, and you’re good to go.
Then there are phones to put in 2 sim cards (maybe one local and one
traveller prepaid card for roaming. Seems feasible and logic. But one
manufacturer thought, hey, there’s room for more. another SIM slot.
The iPhone – base for many gadget ideas, enhanced by Apps that utilize
the integrated peripherals such as the flashLED and the vibration motor
in other ways than intended. There’s almost nothing which hasn’t been
tried with the iPhone. But a taser? With the power of 630.000 volts?
If you ever thought, kitchen devices, such as fridges are the only thing that are
connected to the internet, well, think again because AGA has given an oven the
functionality to be operated from the web. Although I see some sort of risk in
this (despite virae that may attack the OS interface of it), it may be a cool gadget.
Seems as if there’s still room for inventions when it comes to the iPhone. But
this gadget is sort of special: It can withstand a pistol bullet with no problem!
I still doubt that one would survive a collision with a Desert Eagle .50 pro-
jectile as the kinetic power that comes from the bullet is extreme!
It takes much today to make me “Wowzer” about an item in the IT business.
Logitech managed to do so. That’s why I want to give you a preview about
Logitech’s new Touch Mouse M600 and how it performs with an average
computer user like me. Writing this article I am already using the new mouse.
So for all of you winter-loving people, here comes the new ultimate iPad!
Although it is not the way, most people have expected the new iPad that is sort
of overdue, the concept and design are by far superior to the classic models that
are currently out. Imagine what crazy stuff you can do with that thingy!
You know… I really appreciate good devices, good design and technical perfection.
Apple is one of those companies who come up with really good gadgets that enrich your
life. But when you read about something to come up in the future all day and everywhere
then I can’t help to think that it is a shameless and cost-efficient promotion.
As you probably know, microSD cards are the smallest known memory cards ever available.
With its 15mmx11mm size at a thickness of 0.7mm it is very small and still these cards can
hold up to 32GB of data. Reading speeds of up to 20MB/s and Writing speeds of up to 16 MB/s
make these little fellas a very good alternative to conventional SD cards.
