…or when trains fly by with 400 km/h (250 mph)! The red arrow (the
translation for “frecciarossa”) as the new italian high-speed train is called
is supposed to reach 400 km/h albeit the operational speed is 360 km/h.
(215 mph). But as you can see the development never stops.

Remember my post about Gigabit WLAN (a.k.a. WLAN 802.11ac standard)?
The problem was that I couldn’t get hands on a gigabit adapter to connect with
802.11ac standard. But already the a/b/g/n performance is already freaking!
272 MBit/s is possible with the builtin WLAN of my notebook. Fast already.

These guys found an innovative way how to sort beer crates efficiently.
However I doubt that this sorting method keeps the beer in good condition.
I bet that the opened bottle will instantly start foaming like hell as it is
shaken this way. But hey, they sort them faster as anyone else!

You can’t tell for sure what this truck driver has thought. But maybe he
thought, he was playing “Need for Speed – Most Wanted” or GTA… But
speeding with such high velocity into such a harsh turn is for sure not a
good idea, especially when your vehicle is a truck and not a Laborghini.

Itseems as if Microsoft is also experimentig with new touchscreen techniques.
While most touchscreen devices act a bit sluggish (rubberband-effect), the new
prototype of Microsoft’s touchscreen does not show such extreme behaviour.
It’s impressive, how responsive the display acts upon different finger touches.

The CES is just a few days ahead, but Broadcom already announced to release
WiFi-chips that are compatible to the all-new 802.11ac standard. So what does
that mean to you as customer? The first thing is that the fastest WLAN-routers
and dongles can handle 450 Mbit/s at most which means 50-80 Mbit in real.

Today I tried to apply the so-called Scholar’s mate move on the AI. You don’t know what
Scholar’s mate means? It means, setting the opponent checkmate within 4 moves
ignoring any threat of him. As this move is very basic, you won’t see professionals
playing that move in any way. Amazing how quick the AI was beaten!

Well, it seems as if the iPhone has hit a new Low against me. Remember
the published screenshot of my game where I have beaten the AI in under
30 seconds? Today I set a new record: 18 seconds and the AI was done!
So maybe there will be another record in Chess but this one is good!

I must admit, if you expand Firefox with several Addons, it becomes
a very handy and sleek browser. While FF4 had to deal with speed
issues and often stalled with unknown errors or finally stopped
working, Firefox 6 seems to run much more stable than the old version.

How long does it take to set a human player checkmate with the fastest possible
combination of moves such as the Schäferzug? The fastest Game I know of between
two human Players was about 45 seconds. Today I was able to set a new personal
record on the iPhone where I ripped that pesky iPhone in 24(!) seconds!
