WD goes bigger HDD sizes

Western Digital, one of the world’s leading HDD producers,
has announced the next-step increment of HDD disk size.
With 18 and 20TB per disk which means up to 2.2TB per platter,
thus resulting in 9 platters, this is indeed a new record.

Samsung unveils 16TB HDD

While 14TB HDDs are already released to the public, Seagate
has risen the bar a little more. Internal test units of HAMR
drives have broken the magical 16TB barrier meaning that
larger HDDs for datacenters may soon become available.

Seagate releases 14TB HDD

When a lot of HDD space is needed, SSDs still are too expensive
albeit they offer trememndous speeds for data handling. Yet an
SSD would make out a good data archive as SSDs don’t like a
lot of writing but can be read hundreds of thousands times.

Seagate goes SSD

Seagate, known for it’s classic hard drives seems to have it, being the
Loner not to deliver SSD drives. As of today, Seagate announces the
release of it’s 600-series SSD drives, which are available in 120, 240
and 480 GB capacity, equipped with MFC 19nm chips from Toshiba.
