American Airlines near Grounding?

Many Airlines have been grounded in the past 10 years. About
200 in total! Today the third largest of them has been hit by
insolvency today. The American Airlines are well-known all over
the world, although they mostly operate US-regional flights.Founded in 1934, it’s unbelievable what’s happening.

Especially as the airline was for a long time the largest airline worldwide measured by the amount of passengers. However now Delta Airlines is holding first place in this category. It’s frightening what’s ongoing! And if economists saythat the US economy is still solid, then they simply lie! It can’t be that a traditional airline this big goes into insolvency when the US economy would be as stable as it is said to be.

As of now, the planes are still in the air… but for how long?

The following list shows the ten biggest airlines by million transported passengers in 2010:

  1. United States Delta Air Lines (111,159)
  2. United States Southwest Airlines (106,228)
  3. Germany Lufthansa (91,157)
  4. United States American Airlines (86,129)
  5. Republic of China China Southern Airlines (76,078)
  6. Ireland Ryanair (66,529)
  7. United States United Airlines (54,015)
  8. United States US Airways (51,814)
  9. Republic of China China Eastern Airlines (50,336)
  10. France Air France (47,029)
