If you see 20m tall trees vanishing then you make yourself think about
what made them vanish. In this video, some boaters are just filming a
tree group sinking into a giant sinkhole in Assumption Perish, Louisiana.
The sinkhole is the result of a hidden gas and oil reservoir below the lake.

The danger that comes from such hidden sinkholes has already hit Louisiana in the 80’s when a salt mine below a big lake got punctured during drilling operations. The sinkhole that opened afterwards swallowed the lake and homes of 400 people then.

It is said, that Lake Erie is also endangered by such a sinkhole as there are vast salt mines below it.
