So that’s censoring in Germany!

Well… As you have probably noticed, my video from the lightshow
Rendez-Vous Bundesplatz 2011 in Bern may not be available to all users. The reason:
The Music industry, that wants to have control over everything that deals with music
and motion pictures. Sure… copyrights have to be saved… but this way?

There’s nothing more that pisses me off than this kind of censoring. Despite the fact that the event organisator has most probably paid royalty fees for using the songs during the lightshow, Youtube still thinks it has to lock the video for certain countries, such as Germany!
When reading the youtube-Help, they defend theirselves with the quote that non-available videos are including material where youtube could not get to an agreement with the copyright-holders (such as Sony, Universal, Virgin, Warner).

Also the fact that the video only contains recorded audio in a rather mediocre quality and not the song from CD or the like makes me wonder what the labels really want.

All in all I can only say that this kind of censorship really sucks and makes me hate the mayor labels much more now! Copyright, yes! But with a good portion of sanity! Especially when the songs aren’t put in afterwards in clear, crisp quality but rather mediocre quality with background noise!

They can’t be serious when they want me to believe that one could probably strip my video down to the songs to have themin his music collection!
