YouTube attacking Netflix?
It seems as if the online video portal has found a new source
for attracting visitors. However it won’t make competitors
like NetFlix, Spotify & Co. happy. YouTube is planning to
show older movies on their portal. But what’s the catch?
Well, the catch is that you have to deal with commercials in between the stream. So what YouTube does is to play the role of the global television networks just online with streaming.
As YouTube already has introduced non-skippable commercials in people’s videos, this is now used to present full-length movies. What sounds great at first might however become a total nuisance as commercials usually are then triggering when you least want them to kick in. What’s annoying on public television alrteady won’t be less annoying on youTube I say. However last word ain’t spoken yet and we will see how other Video-on-demand platforms may react upon YouTube’s new plans.
