Apple goes Open Source?
And on Sunday there’s also a new Apple message. One that might shock you.
Apple, usually known for their real closed-source attitude has decided to
male the ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) available to all programmers.
They plan to release the full sourtce code and API to the interested.
I still wonder what Apple may want to reach with this kind of action… Maybe reaching out to many people and trying to outwit the MP3 format? Who knows. While ALAC also supports DRM, MP3 is still really open and hard to be tied to any DRM technique. Luckily, I can say…
