The USA, country of unlimited possibilities. Also country of unlimited idiots and rather
dubious lawsuits. One of these is made in July 2006 where a private Person, called
Allen Ray Hackard (51), has fired up a lawsuit against Michael Jordan and Nike.
The sum: The astronomic number of 832.000.000  simoleons. Crazy stuff? Indeed!

So what happened in July 2006?

Hackard puts up a lawsuit against Michael Jordan and Nike as he got always mistaken for Michael Jordan. The look is almost similar, except that Hackard is 8 years older, 9 cm smaller and 11 kilos lighter than Jordan.

But the look seems enough to being mistaken with Michael Jordan.

So Hackard engaged a lawyer for the rather microscopic sum of 206 US$ (yep, twohundred-six!) and thinks of a compensation of 832 million (832.000.000) US$ for the agony of the false fame he “earned” the last years.

The explanation: He never had his own life as he got mistaken for Michael Jordan.

So what could a man move to make such silly lawsuits? Poverty? Cupidity? Stupidity? (Ironicly the last two properties form a rhyme!)

By the way: After the lawyers from Nike had a chitchat with him and telling him what could happen if they counter-sue, he instantly dropped his charges against Michael Jordan AND Nike…

No one knows for sure but I think such cases will still come up in the future.

More cases:

• Some guy sued a washsaloon for loosing his pants in a dryer. He sued for 65 million dollars… the lawsuit still seems pending as he appealed the “no” from the first judge!
• A guy got drunk and on his way home he decided to ignore warning signs in a hotel service area and climbed into the air conditioning fan unit. he got shreddered when the thing started. The family of the victim sued for 10 million dollars as the hotel should be foreseeing that drunk people may have a pink slip to ignore warning signs and crawl into dangerous industrial machines…
• A prank in a Home Store shop in Louisville could cost the owner of the business chain a whopping 3 million dollars. The one who sat on the glued toilet seat thought, the payment of 2000 simoleons, Home Store wanted to pay even if they’re legally not responsible for that, was an insult. The lawsuit got dropped later on.
• A womanwanted liposuction so she consulted a public phone directory. The doctor she could find in there made mistakes as he was only dermatologist and no certified plastic surgeon. Despite the fact that the doctor made the mistake and she insisted that he should do the liposuction, she sued the pblic phone directory publisher and won about 1.5 million US$…
• Another idiot managed to overdraw his bank account and got charged for the overdraw. He sued the bank for the soul pain and sleepless nights. As he considered 100.000 dollars as a simple “slap on the wrist”, he filed for 2 million dollars that supposed to be a “Paddling” – Just crazy!
• A woman sued Mazda for 150.000 US$ as the car manufacturer seemed not to explain the proper use of a seatbelt. So when she wrecked her car and got injured, she filed for this rather idiotic lawsuit.

And these are only an excerpt of many, many lawsuits that read themselves rather ridiculous to people from Europe and Asia…
