Android has a Name for next version!
Well… Android OS is now 6 Years old and just few days ago, Google has
released the new codename for the newest version of Android OS. It is
not known which version numbering will be used for “Jelly Bean” but
as Chrome Browser is now at version 13, maybe Jelly Bean is Version 5…
So if you hae a close look at the names of earlier versions, you see that Google seems to use sweets’ names as codenames. Gingerbread had by far the most updates. Honeycomb has been updated very often, the last months and looks better every new release.
As Ice Cream Sandwich is said to combine the smartphone UI and tablet UI under one hood, there might be more apps in Google’s Android Market that use the full display on tablets. Apps that are currently written for Giberbread often cannot scale well on tablets such as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Acer’s Iconia A500.
Hopefully, these Manufacturers will try to roll Ice Cream Sandwich (a.k.a. Android 4.0) quickly for their devices…
