IE 11 Preview Release

IE10LogoUsually I am critic against beta and preview Releases of system-near software
Since I have used IE10 for a while now and can clearly state that it is running
good on Windows 7, the new Preview release of IE11 made me have a look.
Just to take it away ahead: IE 11 seems to come closer to all other Browsers.

Where IE10 still had some flaws, Rendering CSS3 elements properly (the Continue Reading button on this blog for instance had edges at the top where it should not have), IE11 now renders them properly! Way to go, Microsoft! On the HTML5 test, IE11 Preview scores 365 Points, which is, indeed, a good value if you compare IE9 (being the most present browser of all IE Versions) with only 138 Points.

So one can say that Redmond finally pays big Attention to web Standards and consequently integrates them into their newest Browsers. Good to see that. Although other Browsers already took the 400 Points mark, I must clearly admit that Microsoft also has greatly improved their browser.

For those who want to give IE11 also a test drive: Here you can get it!

But be advised that this Installation will install over your IE10!

IE11 will be available for Windows 7 and Windows 8, but the final release date is not yet known!

According to this, I have updated the visibility of the “Update your Browser” ribbon:

Chrome – Minimum version: 18
Firefox – Minimum version: 16
Internet Explorer – Minimum version: 10
Opera – Minimum version: 10
Safari – Minimum version: 5
