And the Oscar goes to…

So there it is… the Oscar night, where certain proms are presenting the stars of
2012. So what’s so special about the oscar that in Europe people are staying up
till 6am and taking a day off from work? In the USA the Oscar Night in the Kodak
Theatre in L.A. is certainly the most-awaited event every year.

L.A. – City of dreams, let it be more exact: Hollywood, a borough of L.A. – certainly one of the most wealthy ones besides Beverly Hills, which resides just next to Hollywood…

Every year at the end of February, the new stars and movies are selected that are worthwile watching. As 36 million people followed the event on their TV sets last year, a similar score is expected this year also.

Wikipedia keeps track of it in a good way so look it up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award

Interesting that the records are without any gaps since 1986 lately…

As I haven’t watched the event anyways, because 3am is a time where I sleep to be ready for work. And I am not willing to waste one of my precious holidays to watch it. Anyways I ask myself why the event is held on a sunday and not a saturday where probably more watchers will watch this event worldwide.

Wanna be part of it? It seems as if they’re offering Bleacher tickets to be in the near of the red carpet. Being there in person without such a ticket is a complete waste of time as security is so immense that you won’t spot a celebrity anyways. So don’t even think about it! The reservation time is a 10-days-timeframe. So better be quick if you plan to be there. And yet it’s unsure if you’re part of it as there are probably hundreds of thousands of registrations incoming… I don’t know how many tickets are going out, but it’s for sure only a small percentage compared to the reservations…

Update as of Feb 27th, 2012 – 12:35pm

The Oscar winner this year however is “The Artist”, a french movie production. Seems as if for long time, there’s a movie winning from europe.
the other categories are also accessible: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/84th_Academy_Awards

Well… in 2013 there will be another Oscar night… but it’s doubtful if the theater will still be named “Kodak Theatre” as Kodak has already filed for insolvency…
