NVidia sold defective graphics cards

Again NVidia has a dropback to digest. Their flagship graphics
card GTX 2080Ti Founders’ Edition seems to have severe issues
with the PCB and/or components that are used to build the
whole thing. Several users have complained about broken cards.

It isn’t the first time that NVidia witnesses drawbacks in production due to inadequate QA. Now the 2080TI FE is the next big viction in the game. With a whopping price tag of over 1300 US$ you expect these expensive hardware components to work as intended and fault-free. However here it’s what really starts to piss off loyal customers: NVidia has only short-stated that there was a problem with the PCB QA and thorough testing after the cards have been completely assembled.

NVidia still shipped the somehow defective cards to unsuspecting customers where these cards then seized to function due to overheat or other problems with the design in common. Most defective component is the really high-clocked graphics memory. the GDDR6 chips seem to reach alarming temperatures where the graphics cards then end up producing odd textures or showing up general texture problems.

Some users reported that downclocking the graphics memory would make the problem go away but that’s not what it’s supposed to be. The FE is a high-priced product that makes the extra bucks with overclocked components, such as the GPU or GDDR6 memory.

If the memory cannot fulfill it’s tasks when overclocked, the card thus logically cannot be called the FE edition. That’s just cheating then. SO NVidia has to find a way to set things straight and win back their customers’ loyalty. Silence however isn’t the right way and though the new quartly fiscal figures show an increase, this case might have a negative impact on the following quarters’ terms.
