Welcome on the microsite for all video files that belong to the category of Rendez-Vous Bundesplatz Bern.
Since 2011 the Federal Building of Switzerland is illuminated every year with 3D projections of different topics. In 2011 the creation of Switzerland was in the centre of attention, 2012 the topic of the main show was “Innovation out of tradition”, dealing with the craftmanship of goods manufactured in Switzerland, followed by a side show during christmas. In 2013 the lightshow was in the focus of “Miraculous…”, followed by a time travel light show in 2014. The Motto for 2015 was “The jewel of the mountains”. In 2016 the motto dealt with the 150th anniversary of the swiss red cross organization. The motto of the lightshow in 2017 is “Reset” and reflects the 500th anniversary of Luther’s reformation in Switzerland.
ATTENTION:
Especially FullHD-Streams produce vast amounts of data transfer. If you intend to stream these videos on your mobile device, make either sure you have a data plan that can handle these vast amounts or connect your mobile device to a WLAN first before you start streaming. Also note that you will need a constant data rate of 20 Mbit/s for the FullHD streams and a minimum of 2 Mbit/s for the SD streams. Otherwise the videos may be jerky or stuttering and reducing your viewing experience dramatically!

Device-Oriented selection
To ensure, the videos play back okay on your (mobile) device, you may want to select from the different formats of MP4, FLV, MOV or MKV.
MP4: H.264 video is widespread on Android and PC. Users with fast machines may want to select MP4
MOV: Quicktime Movie is for Apple users and should play fine on their iDevices or Mac computers!
FLV: If you know that your device is rather slow (older tablets, phones) then FLV might be an option. Please take note, that FLV is more and more replaced by MP4 (which can be flawlessly played in HTML5-based webplayers!) and that I might consider to only release MOV and MP4 in the future. The changes might also be applied on the older videos as well to preserve valuable webspace. So if you don’t see an FLV column in the entry tables below, then the video might have been removed online and only be available upon special request.
MKV: In the future it might happen that I switch to H.265 video format which is capable of streaming high-quality video up to a 4K resolution with just a bit more bandwidth than MP4 in the next lower resolution. This video format, also known as HEVC will be carried out as Matroska video container (hence the MKV extension), but there are just few devices capable to playback HEVC content yet!
AVI: Since AVI is mostly supported by Windows devices and not by mobile devices at all, this is no option so far. Also AVI does not fully support streaming via the web, so don’t expect AVI videos being put up here as they’re larger, not streaming-capable and do not fully support MP4 streams.
