iPad Mini goes Minibook

Usually, people never seem to agree when it comes to size. On smartphones
the curent trend is: the bigger, the better! usually it was, the smaller, the
better. Compare a Nokia 6100 (combined with its battery, it weighs only 76
grams and measures 102 x 44 x 13.5 mm.) and an actual Galaxy Note II.

The tablet market however is not yet decided. While ones call for bigger tablet PCs (up to 15 inches), others ask for “little more than a Note”-sized tablets (around 7 inches)

At last there are Ultrabooks and Notebooks which seem to be undecided also. While Netbooks did not succeed that much (weak processor, weak graphics and the stuff, the new ultrabook  generation seems to fill this gap perfectly as there are Ultrabooks (from 11 to 15 inches) that both have a strong CPU and GPU so that you’re ready for some gaming also (a real gem seems to be the ASUS UX-51VZ!)

Notebooks seem to be the biggest of all. While 13/14-inchers seem to be popular for office, at home, most of us prefer big weapons which range from 15 inches to 18 inches and can weigh up to 5 kg! (such as the newest Clevo 702 barebone which features a Desktop PC in a notebook case and is thus considered a DTR)

So what’s up with the iPad mini today as it was mentionned?

Well, the accessory market seems to have brought out a keyboard for the smaller iPad also. But the question is: Will a keyboard have sufficient space for all the necessary keys? Or do you have to miss out some of them and have a reduced keyboard now?

Well, time for some pictures now:

Looks like a small, elegenat ledger when closed…

…that unfurls to an ergonomic, user-friendly mobile office…

…with a special-layout keyboard that misses some keys…

…which aren’t essential anyways. Ever used an F-Key on the iPhone/iPad?

Although the layout seems a bit special, I guess, one can’t complain when he’s up to the chose of a haptic keyboard to type long texts or use the touchscreen to do so which acts a bit on it’s own thanks to the AutoCorrection feature.

based on a 80US$ MSRP this gadget ain’t too expensive and protects your new Apple gadget well. A smart case can also have it’s charme. and being bundled with a keyboard like this, you’ll probably earn some envy views from colleagues when you take notes with your digital “ledger”.

Good work here, Belkin!

I like this a lot and I am already spying on a iPad mini. However the price is stil a tad high. What I don’t understand is, that a 4G module is 150 dollars expensive. Well, Apple would do better, bundling up these with price plans of the local cell network operators. At the current situation, these 4G pads a re still pricewise unattractive!
