While I thought, this might not work by now<br \/>\nthe update however finished successfully and in a reasonable time. No long<br \/>\nwaiting times for the download and the installation process passed by quickly!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->So&#8230; any improvements felt so far? Cannot say much about it. Of course the official update list doesn&#8217;t read spectacular:<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2>About  \tiOS 5.1 Software Update<\/h2>\n<p>This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Japanese language support for Siri (availability may be limited during initial rollout)<\/li>\n<li>Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream<\/li>\n<li>Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)<\/li>\n<li>Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces<\/li>\n<li>Redesigned Camera app for iPad<\/li>\n<li>Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers<\/li>\n<li>Audio for TV shows and movies on iPad optimized to sound louder and clearer<\/li>\n<li>Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30 second rewind for iPad<\/li>\n<li>Updated AT&amp;T network indicator<\/li>\n<li>Addresses bugs affecting battery life<\/li>\n<li>Fixes an issue that occasionally caused audio to drop for outgoing calls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For information on the security content of this update, please visit this website:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT1222\">http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT1222<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more information on: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, please visit this website: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT4623\">http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT4623<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What they don&#8217;t mention is that you can now update and download Apps via 3G with a total size of 50 MB!<\/p>\n<p>However I noticed something new: While the iPhone 4S had no direct slider (unlike the iPhone 4) to disable the 3G network, it now does! Earlier it was a tale that Apple has not set the slider in the settings page as the chip might not allow a dedicated switchoff of anyone of the both network types as they&#8217;re in the same chip! However thanks to the iOS update, you&#8217;re now able to control the behaviour of the iPhone 4S the same way as you kew it from the iPhone 4&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Oh&#8230; one more thing: It&#8217;s said that the battery uptime shall improve with this update&#8230; let&#8217;s see if that&#8217;s true!<\/p>\n<p>As soon as I detect other things that have changed, I&#8217;ll post about these.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just few hours after the keynote and the presentation of the new iPad, Apple has released the new iOS update.
