Github acquired by Microsoft
Microsoft gets green light from the EU commission to
acquire Github, the largest collaboration development
network for software, The price is about 7.5 billion US$
and with this one of Microsoft’s larger acquisitions.
Github has been used even by biggies like IBM, SAP and Google for their projects to being tracked and released.
The reason why the EU commission allows the acquisition of Github through Microsoft is that there’s no sign of altering the open community structure and that there’s no distortion of the market competiotion.
However the OpenSource community fears that this is another step from Microsoft to choke down the OpenSource software community to commercialize projects.
We’ll see how it’ll come out at the end.
