Samsung S20 Prices and specs
The next-gen flagship smartphone of Samsung is just
around the corner. Just in time for the MWC later in
February Samsung is about to show three new types
of their flagship line, the Samsung Galaxy series.
Called S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, they all will feature 5G standard and (so they say) the best camera ever available in a smartphone.
Samsung calls this feature SuperISO which has been registered as a trademark just few days ago (January, 30th)
The tech specs will be as follows:

Interesting to see that 120Hz refresh rate for the display will only be available for 2400×1080 resolution which inherits some interpolation and probably some blurry presentation as it is not the display’s native resolution. The 120Hz refresh rate at the full resolution might become available later or Samsung will include it upon release as a disabled option per default as 120Hz at QHD+ will definitely mean heavily reduced battery runtime. Another option might be that 120Hz at QHD+ is only activated when running games or videos that explicitely request the 120Hz refresh rate.
The 10x optical zoom will only be available in the S20 ultra as it’s camera module will allow for the necessary space of the periscopic lens array.
The other two models will have to stick to a classic 5x optical zoom instead.
What exactly Samsung means by SuperISO is still unknown yet there are rumors that it could mean a 51’200 ISO value at max at the cost of resolution as 108MP with such a small pixel aperture would inevitably lead to massive noise. We expect ISO51’200 images to be scaled down to 12MP as the 108MP sensor is a 9pixel-render-and-improve setup and will only deliver good image quality in bright areas. As soon as brightness is lower it’s mots likely that image optimizers will start to kick in and reduce the image resolution in order to provide good-looking images. Rumors spread that final images could be 40MP at max while access to the raw 108MP images is still possible.
The lower-lend models of the S20 will have a 64MP image sensor instead which uses another pixel-rendering mechanism to achieve similar results like the S20 Ultra.
Video will be recorded up to 4K resolution at up to 60fps, FHD resolution allows up to 240fps and when using 720p then Super SloMo will be available recording at 960fps.
The prices for the various models however are now in Premium segement and match with Apple’s flagship phones.
