Einstein’s theory of lightspeed falsified?

You all know the theory that light is the fastest possible “element” existing.
Albert Einstein has described in 1916 that nothing can be faster than the
light itself. Hereby the famous formula E=mc² has been created in which the
speed of light is measured to be exactly 299’792.658 km per second.

However at the CERN in Geneva a new experiment with the name “Opera” might falsify this absolute speed as they have discovered that neutrinos sent to a distant lab in the Abbruzes, Italy arrived few nanoseconds earlier as speed of light would allow. Initially the scientists at the CERN thought, it could be a measurement error but repeated test have shown that the phenomenon could be repeated. At current, the results are being counterchecked in the USA to be either proven wrong or correct. If correct, Einstein’s general theory of relativity (GTR) could be falsified almost a century later…

As I know, it was known before, that Waves can be more than twice as fast as lightspeed, as various experiments made in the US have shown, that radio waves were sent through a tube with half of the radius the wave would need, or something like that, in any case, the tube had a much less radius as the other elements, arrived with twice the lightspeed at the other end.
So it was proven, that lightspeed is not the end. If I remember myself right, the radiowaves also included information, because it was music playing waves, they used, I guess.
Now, with particels (sorry for my english today), it would be much more interesting, because now you have physical elements reaching more than lightspeed….

But before making plans to travel with Warp 9, you should consider creating a real Beamer! ;)

Okay, sounds interesting. I was not aware of that. I tried googling for some information about that but was not lucky so far. Do you have any sources for what you’ve written? Would like to read more about this because till now even I thought, the GTR defines the ultimate limit of speed.

When I think about waves and their speed… Well: the speed wavelength is defined by their frequency also. Even light itself is considered a wave with a special frequency.

By the way (just found in Wikipedia): The speed of radiowaves is 299’792.5 km/s in the vacuum which equals lightspeed. So the theory you mentionned seems to be false. But send me some links when you find them so I can read more about this and post it here as well!

I like your pure sarcasm about warping and the Beamer! :D

Light consists of waves AND particles, so it is astounding that particles are faster than light.

I haven’t any links, I saw it on NatGeo HD, History HD or Discovery HD.
This documentation was really interesting, and a time ago I saw it.

But I can’t remeber how it was called or which university it was.
And…. a simple query with: waves faster lightspeed brought up this:
    http://www.universetoday.com/33752/device-makes-radio-waves-travel-faster-than-light/

    and this:

;) Ask google how to google. ^^
