Windows 7 gets ESU till 2023

Windows 7 is still omnipresent in most offices around

Windows 8.2 back to the roots

Win8LogoFunny enough to see that it takes 2 minor releases ’til Microsoft recognizes
that you’d better not change a running system. While Windows 8 is a real
goalgetter on tablets and touchscreen notebooks, it cannot get ground on
stationary PCs and classic notebooks. Win7 makes it’s rounds there.

Microsoft sued for 561 million euros

This ain’t good news for Microsoft. Brussels has sued Microsoft for violating
the Browser choice agreement. The main argument was that Mcrosoft has
not shown the Browser Choice windows to all users (which users they are,
is till unknown)! Although I am not a Microsoft Fanboy, this is ridiculous!

Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet delayed

Seems as if not only Apple has the trouble when it comes to delivery flaws upon
the release of new hardware. The Surface Pro tablet is also among these gadgets
which are highly demanded but where the manufacturer cannot deliver the item
in time. So it’s simply waiting time for those who want to have a Surface Pro.

Nintendo and Sony – archrivals since the very beginning of the game console

Half a billion US$ for advertisement?

What seems odd for most of us, seems normal for Microsoft. So it is known
to winfuture that Microsoft wants to make the switch to the new Metro
surface more delicate to the customers by putting up a rather high budget
for advertisement of Windows 8. But seriously: is this really necessary?

PR gone wrong…

This year’s NDC (Norwegian Developer’s Conference) from Microsoft seems
to have been a bit weird and shameful for Microsoft. During a very odd dance
show where light-suited women have danced during a modifies Scooter song,
the words “Micro” and “Soft” have flashed on the teleprompters.

Has Windows Vista been a disaster for Microsoft so is Windows 7 a complete
success. The OS has brought in more money into Microsoft’s cashier in the
third quarter of the fiscal year. So has the net profit been 5.1 billion US$ from
a total revenue of 17.1 billion US$. It prooves that Windows 7 must be good.

Microsoft shows ultra-fast touchscreen

Itseems as if Microsoft is also experimentig with new touchscreen techniques.
While most touchscreen devices act a bit sluggish (rubberband-effect), the new
prototype of Microsoft’s touchscreen does not show such extreme behaviour.
It’s impressive, how responsive the display acts upon different finger touches.

WiiU gets own online store!

It seems as if Nintendo plans an own Online store for the WiiU. This way, Nintendo follows
the steps of Microsoft and Sony. Talking about the XBox. The new XBox 720 should be more
powerful (30 times) as the XBox 360 and 6 times more powerful as the WiiU. However
the sale of used games will be prohibited so that your game is tied to your console.

Microsoft’s TellMe vs. Apple’s Siri

Apple… you can’t be serious!

Apple has done many lawsuits in the past. And one was about their logo where
it was hard for me to find similarities that may infringe with patents or copy-
rights of the Apple company in Cupertino (read here). This time I think, they’ve
gone too far! A small tea room owner got sued for her logo she has patented.

Microsoft going to get Skype?

It seems Microsoft is in need of a VoIP and Web-telephony specialist. The

A word about computers and their OS…

Todays’ market mainly consists of three good OSses, namely Windows, MacOSX
and Linux. Probably you may wonder why I am speaking of these today and what
I have noticed during the last 20 years in which I have worked with computers so
far. My insight shall clearly state that I am not favoring only one of these!
