What’s the best advertisement you can have today? TV? No! Radio? Probably!
Newspapers and magazines? Probably… but the best public advertisement is,
in my opinion, the Internet and independent blogs. But the PR department of
Sony Ericcson seems to have missed the time shifting and the modern times.

As of today http://www.xperiablog.net/ and http://www.xperiax10.net/ have announced that they will clode the sites/blogs for good. These sites are non-profit yet Sony Ericcson seems to see a negative intention in having the blogs active under the trademark “Xperia” in their domain names.

I wonder what Sony is intending to do with the domians anyways and it it is a good idea to piss off fans of their products. Would be the same as when Microsoft would sue every site owner having a domain with “Windows” in its name. Not even Microsoft is THAT stupid!

Also the blogs have always done good publicity on the Xperia phones resulting in better sales for Sony Ericcson. The blog owners cannot understand why Sony is going to sue them for rather good placed free advertisement in a distant way. Well… the responses to the blog entries did not hold up long. First blog members have now declared to drop their stand by Sony. Most of the users seek their new phones in Android or Apple phones.

Way to go, PR idiots at Sony Ericcson! This is another good example for how you don’t do publicity. Your reputation is now suffering big times as the news have spread worldwide! Better have your actions reviewed before you take such company-devastating actions. If you get fired, don’t blame Sony Ericcson. Blame yourself with your missing knowledge about modern time media such as blogs and the internet! You can’t buy good reputation with money, you have to earn it. And pi**ing off fans of your products isn’t an option for sure!
