Windows 8.2 back to the roots

Win8LogoFunny enough to see that it takes 2 minor releases ’til Microsoft recognizes
that you’d better not change a running system. While Windows 8 is a real
goalgetter on tablets and touchscreen notebooks, it cannot get ground on
stationary PCs and classic notebooks. Win7 makes it’s rounds there.

Slight update in mobile communication

iPhone5SGroupIt was time to upgrade my cell phone as the iPhone 4 was on it’s way to
complete the 4th year of service. Don’t get me wrong – the iPhone 4 is
still an outstanding device. But you notice that iOS7 is giving it serious
headache. Apps start sluggish and iOS7 drags power as hell.

Oh, sweet jimminee. – 2 TB at it’s smallest!

SAMSUNGOnce more it seems as if the end of HDD isn’t reached yet. Have we stated,
that Western Digital has brought out a 12.5mm HDD with 2TB capacity.
Now it seems as if Samsung (also part of HGST/WD now…) has managed
to squeeze 2 TB into a 9.5mm high HDD case which is just amazing.

EA drops C&C like a hot potato!

EA-Logo-agedI hate it when good game series get wasted because a gaming company,
let alone the biggest among them all, doesn’t have the financial outcome
it has prospected in advance. So what happened, you may ask? Well, as
of today, Electronic Arts has officially stated, that C&C and it’s studio…

Android and the update problems

BuggedAndroidNothing is more annoying than an update to a newer version of a software
part of your smartphone or tablet. I got me a Google Nexus 10 which
initially runs on Android 4.2.3. After setting up everything including the
Google Play Store, I got notified about Jelly Bean (Android 4.3).

Windows 8.1 and good ol’ times

gadgetWindows 8.1 is out. With it, the start button came back (although the function is
still doubtful as a single left click simply shows the tiles surface again. Sure the
update brought back some functions back to the user. Yet there are essentials
missing, Windows 7 users (like me) still want to have.

Nokia kills SymbianOS and Meego

nokiaNokia more and more combines with Microsoft. Another big indicator
for this is the closure of SymbianOS and Meego. While the step for Meego
is somehow understandable (the N9 is the last phone using Meego!), the
closure of SymbianOS is a bit odd since all LowCost-Nokias use it!
